Ed Sappin's Bio:

Ed Sappin is the CFO of Northwest Innovation Works (NWIW). He is also the founder of Sappin Global Strategies (SGS), a New York based finance and business development firm building the next generation of global innovators.    As a senior leader in finance, strategy, and business development, Ed has worked with private equity funds, Fortune 50 corporations, banks, and startups on more than 60 investments and major projects in the United States and global markets - totaling over $10 billion. Ed is a thought leader and frequently contribtues to media including Entrepreneur, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, Wired, and CNBC.   Ed Sappin has a wealth of leadership experience. Prior to NWIW and SGS, Ed was Director of Project Development for BP's renewable energy division. In this role he led teams in the United States and the Asia Pacific, successfully managing power project development on deals totaling over $2 billion. In the years before joining the BP Solar team, Ed was based in China. There he originated private equity investments and partnered with middle market companies as a senior executive at New Asia Partners. Ed also worked for Intel Corporation as a senior strategist. Earlier in his career, Ed worked in venture capital and private equity in New York and London.   Ed Sappin attended The John Hopkins University and holds a Master of Arts from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. While a student at SAIS, he was a Boren and Bradley Fellow. As an undergraduate, Ed received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Ed Sappin was recognized as a Franklin, Wharton and Fine Scholar.   Ed is a strong believer in community and philanthropy and is active in a number of New York area and national organizations.
